Using exciting action films this course will teach you how to develop a sophisticated analysis of film texts. Superhero films are central to Hollywood. But behind the breath-taking action, the death-defying stunts, behind the mask, what is the true message that directors are trying to develop? We will look at cutting edge Hollywood techniques in Spiderman and think about the meaning they create. You will learn to think critically about the values that underpin these films. Heroes can also be ordinary people like Katniss Everdeen in the highly popular Hunger Games series. But is Katniss driven by a desire for justice, or does she ultimately want power just like the villains she battles? Can any of us stay true to ourselves once we get a taste for power and prestige? Enrol in this course to find out!
