The topics in term 4 aim to solidify the concepts studied in Stage 4 (Year 7 and 8) and to extend students beyond into stage 5 (Year 9 and 10). In high school, these topics are generally done at least twice (once in year 9, extended in year 10 and assumed in year 11 and 12). Students are not only taught the fundamentals of these topics but also to enrich with problem solving and reasoning. Working beyond the requirement of the high school mathematics syllabus is important as a significant part of Stage 4 Mathematics review the work that students in year 5 and 6 have already mastered in their preparation for the selective school and scholarship examinations. Working at this level will enable students to confidently succeed in high school mathematics.
