This five-day course introduces students to the advanced mathematical concepts of permutations, combinations and logarithms. Students will develop problem-solving skills through counting techniques, probability applications and exponential relationships. These topics are fundamental in Senior Mathematics, particularly in areas such as probability, statistics, financial mathematics and calculus.
Permutations and combinations help students analyse different arrangements and selections, while logarithms provide essential tools for solving exponential equations and modelling growth and decay. As these concepts often involve abstract reasoning and multi-step problem solving, many students find them challenging. This course is designed to strengthen understanding, build confidence and prepare students for success in Senior Mathematics courses and examinations.
The course concludes with a test on Day 5, allowing students to consolidate and solidify their understanding of the key concepts and skills covered throughout the program.
