NAPLAN 2026 will be held beginning 11 March.
This course will combine reading activities to extend students’ comprehension and interpretation skills, and narrative writing skills.
Reading enrichment: 1.5 hours
Students will read a wide range of text types, from informative and persuasive texts to literature in the form of narratives and poetry. Focus will be placed on higher-order thinking skills such as interpretation and inference, as well as the ability to support and explain a statement.
Narrative writing: 2 hours
Students will learn the difference between a narrative and other text types, to ensure that they are writing the correct text type. They will learn how to use narrative techniques such as the use of different points of view to strengthen their story.They will also learn elements of grammar and punctuation, such as the correct use of tense and speech punctuation, and sentence structure, such as how to avoid run-on sentences. Students will complete an in-class writing task on days 1-4.
