This course is designed to further develop skills for the Selective High Schools Placement Test.
For Reading:
- Intensive vocabulary enrichment
- Strategies explained for each subsection of the Reading paper: fiction, poetry, cloze passage, linked extracts
- An in-class assessment on the final day
- Activities focus on the development of higher-order thinking skills
For Writing:
- Focus on one text type per lesson
- Textual analysis to enable students to understand the mechanics of writing
- Detailed feedback provided on each writing task (no writing task on Friday)
