Year 3 and 4 Students – Writing Astonishingly Good Short Stories
Over three sessions, students will explore the following key components of creative writing and in turn write their own exciting short stories.
In the course Jacqueline will use a range of texts to identify excellence in creative writing and the methods that published authors employ to create their works.
About Jacqueline Harvey
Jacqueline Harvey has had a passion for storytelling since she was a child. These days, having written more than 60 books, she is one of Australia’s most popular authors for children.
Best known for her award-winning series fiction including Alice-Miranda, Kensy and Max, Clementine Rose and Willa and Woof her sales number over 2 million copies. In 2022 she released a picture book called That Cat, illustrated by one of her former students, Kate Isobel Scott. Since then, the pair have published The Daring Tale of Gloria the Great, about a wayward chicken and a new picture book series about a sheep called Kevin, with two books, Kevin the Sheep and Kevin Saves the Show out now and a third coming in 2025. Her Alice-Miranda books have been made into two animated feature films available on STAN and Nine Now. Jacqueline has also narrated over thirty audio books.
A highly experienced Deputy Head, teacher and presenter, Jacqueline has delivered thousands of talks and workshops for children and adults at schools and festivals around the world.
With a reputation for creating books that are filled with adventure, mystery, humour and heart Jacqueline is currently working on several exciting new projects including a middle grade series called The Girl and the Ghost, launching May 2025.
