This course is designed to support students who are preparing for the Selective High Schools Placement Test.
Students will learn advanced reading strategies - such as summarising, inferring, analysing and predicting - as they practise questions in the different sections of the SS reading paper. There will be a Reading mock test on day 5.
In Writing, students will learn the structure and language conventions of different text types. They will understand how to adjust their writing to suit a target audience and purpose, and be encouraged to demonstrate creativity. Students will complete an in-class writing task on days 1-4.
