The Screwtape Letters
A 10-week exploration with Year 8 students into English author C.S. Lewis's satire The Screwtape Letters, a collection of fictional correspondences between ‘senior demon’ Screwtape and his nephew Wormwood. Completed in 1941 during World War Two as London was being bombed, this playfully serious work explores the nature of truth, belief and evil. This course will consist of close reading, discussion, and creative and personal writing leading up to a final analytic essay at the end of term.
Students are required to have a copy of the book and have read the text before beginning the course. The following edition is recommended. You can purchase a copy from the office.
