A brief history of English poetry
The course will give a brief historical overview of English poetry from the Middle Ages to modern poetry such as free verse and contemporary poetry such as rap. Students will respond to and analyse poems from the different eras, looking at the changes in theme, form, style and techniques over time. This forms the content for learning essay-writing skills which are required in all high school subjects.
