Dystopian fiction: The Maze Runner
Dystopian fiction is a form of speculative fiction that offers a vision of a future where society is in cataclysmic decline. Using a close study of The Maze Runner by James Dashner, students will practise skills in textual analysis, creative writing and essay writing. They will gain an understanding of the genre through supplementary texts such as short stories, poems and film excerpts. All of these will enable students to learn the critical thinking and analytical approach required in high school English.
Students must have a copy of The Maze Runner ready for the course. You may purchase it yourself or from the office.
